Employment Opportunity: Full-Time Youth Services Librarian
The George Culver Community Library is immediately hiring a new Youth Services Librarian! We are a forward-thinking library with a community mindset, dedicated to providing our patrons with diverse resources, technology assistance, and top-notch traditional library services. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Planning, leading, and evaluating active and passive children's programs for newborns through teens; Selecting material for and maintaining children's and young adult collections; Promoting library youth services to the community through visits to schools and other partners; Performing patron services at the circulation desk: check materials in and out, process library card applications, shelve books, periodicals, and other materials, etc.
 

Hours and Salary:
This is a full-time position for 40 hours per week, including one evening shift per week and Saturday hours as needed for programs and staff coverage. Starting salary is $21.00/hour. This position qualifies for benefits.
 

Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree (preferred) or any equivalent combination of education and experience, plus a minimum of two years of experience working with children in a library or educational setting. Prior library experience preferred.

Demonstrated knowledge of child development and children’s literature and the ability to work effectively and enthusiastically with children and their parents. Ability to perform with minimal supervision, to work collaboratively in a team environment, and to demonstrate professional standards, good judgment, dependability, and timeliness.
