LibraryReads – February 2014

Red Rising by Pierce Brown, available soon in Sauk Prairie at the Sauk City Public Library.

Looking for your next book? Librarians across the country vote each month on the books they are most looking forward to and put out a list called LibraryReads. Here are the most anticipated books coming out in February:

1. Red Rising by Pierce Brown
2. The Good Luck of Right Now by Matthew Quick
3. This Dark Road to Mercy by Wiley Cash
4. The Martian by Andy Weir
5. After I’m Gone by Laura Lippman
6. Ripper by Isabel Allende
7. The Ghost of Mary Celeste by Valerie Martin
8. The Wife, the Maid, and the Mistress by Ariel Lawhon
9. The Winter People by Jennifer McMahon
10. E. E. Cummings : A Poet’s Life by Susan Cheever

I’d rather be…

The weather outside is frightful! As much as we love Sauk City, this time of year we dream of going someplace else. Stop into the library and put a pin on our big map showing us where you want to go. If you write an explanation about why you’d like to go, and we’ll enter you into a drawing for a world map just like the one here at the library (but without the pin holes!)

If you don’t want to venture out into the cold or don’t live here in Sauk Prairie, you can play too! Use the Google map below to place your pin, then enter your explanation into the form below and be entered into the drawing.

You do have to be signed into Google to place a pin. The easiest way to place your pin is to click the square in the upper right and open the map in a new tab. Then find your location and click the pin symbol that looks like an upside-down teardrop and click on the map at your location.

If you don’t have a Google account, just include your location in the form below and we’ll add it for you!

Good luck! We’ve still got a lot of winter left, but at least the Polar Vortex is on its way out.
